Jean-Michel Severino

Chair, Investisseurs et Partenaires (I&P)

Since May 2011, Jean-Michel Severino has chaired Investisseurs et Partenaires, (I&P), an impact investment company dedicated to start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises and microfinance institutions in Africa. He became Chairman of the Supervisory Board in October 2021.

Previously, Mr. Severino was Inspector General at the French Ministry of Finance, Director of Development at the French Ministry of Development (1994-1996), Director for Central Europe and then Vice-President for East Asia at the World Bank (1996-2001) and finally Director General of the French Development Agency (AFD) (2001-2010).

Mr. Severino is a member of the Boards of Directors of Orange and Michelin. He is a lead director and chairman of Danone's governance committee. He holds non-executive positions within the impact investment community and contributes to the boards of non-profit institutions, such as UNESCO's International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP). He is a senior fellow of FERDI (Foundation for International Research and Development) and a member of the French Academy of Technology. He regularly publishes articles and books on economic development, Africa and impact investing. He has been a member of the board of directors of important organizations such as the EIB and Ecobank International.

Mr. Severino graduated (1978/79) from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris as well as from the Universities of Paris Dauphine and Sorbonne (Masters in Law and Economics). He is a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies (SciencesPo, 1980) and the National School of Administration (1984).
