Sola David-Borha
Former Chief Executive - Africa Regions, Standard Bank Group
Sola is currently a PhD candidate at SOAS University of London. Prior to this, she served as Chief Executive - Africa Regions, Standard Bank Group with responsibility for 19 countries across Sub-Saharan Africa (excl. South Africa).
Sola’s extensive career in the financial services industry spanned over 30 years. She was Chief Executive of Standard Bank Group’s subsidiary in Nigeria, Stanbic IBTC Holdings, having also been Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank.
She currently sits as a Non-Executive Director (NED) on the board of Stanbic IBTC Holdings and is an Independent NED on the board of Coca-Cola HBC AG.
An astute Board Leader with a strong belief in Corporate Governance, Sola has led and sat on various boards including being the former Vice Chairman for the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, former Chairman of Stanbic IBTC Bank, and an NED on the boards of Stanbic Uganda Holdings and Stanbic Bank Uganda. She also served as Chairperson of the Private Investors for Africa (2018-2021) a business coalition of ethically like-minded companies that seeks to improve the business climate on the African Continent.
She holds an MBA from Manchester Business School, UK (1994), a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria (1991). She has attended the Harvard Business School, Advanced Management Programme (AMP) and the Global CEO program (IESE, Wharton, CEIBS).
She is an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
A frequent speaker at business conferences, Sola was named Business Woman of the Year for Africa at the CNBC All Africa Business Leaders Awards in 2016.
